His practice conceptualises the space between people and the internet, reflecting on the emotional and physical transformation happening as our interpersonal needs reposition themselves. Leon’s approach to ‘documentary’ incorporates aspects of narrative, using both fact and fiction to better understand the complexities of reality. His recent works have become increasingly informed by the dichotomy of hate and love, and how both often flourish from the same innate desire to be understood or accepted. Internet culture offers a foothold to hateful ideologies, yet it is a space inseparably tied to those we love and admire.
Since graduating from the Institute of Art Design and Technology (Ireland) with a BA in photography in 2021, Leon’s work has been recognised and supported by Gallery of Photography Ireland, Photo Museum Ireland and FUTURES with the respective works being held in their archives. Alongside numerous shows and publications, Leon continues to develop his practice as an artist and photographer.
